Porron Demonstration & Wine Tasting

Ain't no party like a Porron party!

Our next specialty wine tasting is dedicated to the wonderful drinking vessel called a Porron. Originating in Catalonia, Spain, this spouted decanter makes it easy for everyone to share the same bottle of wine around the table without the fuss of having all the wine glasses. Until the mid twentieth century, Porrons were common in many house holds in Spain, but the tradition is being lost. Until now!

Join us Thursday May 17th for a 'How to Porron' tasting with 4 different wines. Learn the proper technique, try some awesome Spanish wine, and have fun with us!

$10 for the tasting or free with purchase of a bottle from the tasting. Cheers!

Beer Of The Week
May

to Jun 6

Beer Of The Week

"Noble King is one of the oldest beers we make, and is inspired by the hoppy pale beers from small producers in Europe like Thiriez, De Ranke, and De la Senne. Dry, bitter, with some interesting yeast complexity is what we aspire to with Noble King.
Noble King is testament to the versatility of mixed culture fermentation. When we commit beer brewed with little hops to oak barrels for months or years, it develops a pronounced acidity. But when we ferment for just weeks in stainless steel with a lot of hops, the acidity is kept at bay, and the beer is dry and bitter. For those who know us well, they recognize that we’re just as passionate about the hoppy pale beers of Belgium and France as we are about the barrel aged, wild ales. Noble King is firmly rooted in the former category. We hope you enjoy!"

ABOUT ROSÈS
Popular among the spring and summer months (but in our opinion all year around!) Rosé (from French rosé) is a type of wine that incorporates some of the color from the grape skins, but not enough to qualify it as a red wine. It may be the oldest known type of wine, as it is the most straightforward to make with the skin contact method. The pink color can range from a pale "onion-skin" orange to a vivid near-purple, depending on the varietals used and winemaking techniques. There are three major ways to produce rosé wine: skin contact, saignée, and blending. Rosé wines can be made still, semi-sparkling or sparkling and with a wide range of sweetness levels from highly dry Provençal rosé to sweet White Zinfandels and blushes. Rosé wines are made from a wide variety of grapes and can be found all around the globe

Wine and Chocolate Pairing

Hey Everyone!

Our next Wine and Chocolate Pairing with The Secret Chocolatier is on the books! Join us Thursday April 26th at 6:30PM to taste through both delicious wine and chocolate!

We are partnering again with The Secret Chocolatier for these events. A little about The Secret Chocolatier:

We’re a family of chocolate artisans. The Dietz and Ciordia families, to be exact. The Secret Chocolatier was conceived when Chef Bill Dietz found himself at a career crossroads. He called a family meeting with his wife, Karen, their daughter Robin Ciordia and her husband Andy, and we four foodies decided to take the plunge into entrepreneurship. Three years later, after building a following at local farmers markets and retailers, we responded to public demand for a storefront where customers could get their chocolate moment five days a week.

And we’re writing chocolate history every day.

Date: Thursday April 26th

Time: Arrive by 6:30PM, we will start at 6:45PM

Where: This is a seated event hosted in the backroom of Seaboard Taproom & Wine Bar.

Price: $30, which includes 5 different wines paired with 5 different chocolates.

To sign up for this event, please contact Kyle at: kyle@seaboardbrewing.com or give us a call at Seaboard at 704-246-8323

Beer Of The Week!

The De La Senne/Toccalmatto Funambulo Belgian Style DIPA(strong ale with strong hop flavors) is a treat to experience. Here's some from the brewers:

“We developed this Strong Ale with our friend Bruno Carilli from Toccalmatto. At 10% abv, this is still our strongest blonde, and it remains dangerously easy to drink! Her complex bouquet is a delicate mix of muscat, pear, red fruits (blackcurrant and wild strawberries), and white flowers. As to flavour and aftertaste, these notes are completed by a spicy touch of white pepper and nutmeg. Its taste develops itself in a long bitterness and a strong malty character. The warming spirit of the alcohol wraps up the ensemble, without ever being aggressive.”
